What's up with the soft roader trend?

I've been noticing that more and more manufacturers are making "overland ready" soft roaders. In my eyes these are slightly modified vehicles that aren't that capable in stock or altered form. What do you guys think? Do these cars have a place in the market?

I think they do. The issue is people taking them beyond their own and their vehicles abilities which many time leads to accidents. I can see the appeal though, they are comfy economical and cheaper

I think they have no place on the trails unless they are dirt roads. For anything else you will need a proper truck

I wouldn't say they have no place but they are definitely not the best tool for the job. They can get people outside though so I do find them useful
