1/2 wave so ground plane isn't as much of an issue and I haven't found a higher gain antenna yet. I do run it on top of my cruiser so nothing is in its way. Its been scraped on drive throughs and tagged by branch's so far so good.
Try the Midland 6 dB gain antenna, but there are a number of things that go into range of your radio. Where do you currently have your antenna mounted?
