12V "Cigarette Lighter" port

I'm sitting here just watching videos on expedition trailers (researching to pick up one). and curious, why do so many still call the 12V port a "Cigarette Lighter" when there is no old school heater element in it, and most that have that won't be plugging anything but lights and such into it.

Am I missing something here?

Some people don't know what an "accessory" plug is. When I show them people say "Oh, its a cigarette lighter plug".
I call them accessory port's. I put one in my trailer just to have it but, don't like them.

I am amused by people still calling them that and most have never actually seen a cigarette lighter.

+1 yeah I'm the same way, although do find myself calling it actually both 12V Plug and Cigarette lighter plug. Oh I remember like yesterday! Caked up coils of charred tobacco! :ROFLMAO:

100% out of habit. I still call mine Cig lighter and it has no element in it. Oh yeah, way old enough to remember the old school lighters. My dad was a heavy smoker and all those in the cars we had were always caked up with white tobacco ash stuck to them.
