Ford
A new Ford Ranger has been in the works for some time now, but we finally have an idea of when we might see what the next-generation model will look like.
Ford recently released a teaser video (shown below) that shows a few Rangers enjoying some time in the mud, dirt, and snow.
And along with those images, Ford announced that the new Ranger would be officially released later this year and go on sale sometime in 2022.
The model shown in the video will be what’s available in Europe and the United States, though the two versions will certainly have their differences to appeal to two very different markets.
As you can see in the video, the trucks are kept pretty well under wraps, so we still don’t get an overly good look at what the new Ford Ranger will look like.
However, you can plainly see that the truck has a boxier look that gives it a more full-sized truck appearance. You can also see that there are crew cab and extended cab options.
What is also known is that the new Ranger will share the same platform as the wildly popular Ford Bronco.
I suppose the question is whether the new Ranger will have the same success as the Bronco. My guess is that it won’t – it doesn’t have the same level of nostalgia that the Bronco does.
But with a Ranger Raptor reportedly in the works, and the availability of turbocharged four-cylinder and six-cylinder models available, the sales of the new Ford Ranger might just surprise you and me both. Time will tell.
What do you think? Will you get in line to get a new Ranger?
