Sunnyside Offroad Boony Stomper: A True Budget-Friendly Offroad Teardrop

Some good friends of mine love to go camping, but not the rugged, off-grid kind of camping that I enjoy. Instead, they bought a 42-foot fifth wheel – at a price of nearly $120,000 – to take on road trips with the occasional boondocking trip.

Now, I will say that their trailer is nice. It suits the needs of their family perfectly, too. But I don’t want or need something that big, nor do I want to spend that kind of cash on a trailer!

For me, a teardrop trailer is a perfect option. They’re easy to tow, easy to maneuver, and in some cases, they’re also budget-friendly.

I recently got to know the folks at Sunnyside Offroad, and I got to explore their Boony Stomper teardrop trailer. This sucker is precisely what you should think of when you’re on the hunt for a budget-friendly offroad teardrop.

This being the case, I’ll introduce you to the Boony Stomper and sing its praises so you can see for yourself what an ideal option it is for your offroad adventures.

Sunnyside Offroad Boony Stomper Specs

Let’s start by reviewing some of the basic specs of the Boony Stomper trailer.

At 119 inches long and 74 inches at its widest point, this trailer is compact, but gives you plenty of space for a comfortable cabin (more on that in a moment). The trailer is built on a 2×2 steel frame that gives it the rigidity and strength that’s necessary for rough offroad travel without adding a lot of weight.

Speaking of weight, the Boony Stomper tips the scale at 670 pounds with a tongue weight of 100 pounds. Since the trailer is so featherlight, it can be towed by regular passenger cars, light-duty SUVs and trucks, and even UTVs!

The inside of the trailer is everything you need and nothing you don’t.

You get a finished interior with carpeted walls and linoleum floors. There’s also plenty of storage space with sizable cabinets that feature self-latching doors.

With an interior length of 6’4” and a width of 46”, you get a cabin that’s perfectly-sized for you and your adventure buddy!

Throw in a tongue box for even more storage and a folding side table (shown above) for dining and prep space while you’re at it!

Sunnyside Offroad Boony Stomper Offroad Capabilities

As discussed earlier, the Boony Stomper is the perfect size – compact and lightweight enough to be towed by virtually any vehicle, yet large enough to facilitate a comfortable camping experience.

You can have those camping experiences further off the beaten path, too…

boony stomper suspension

That’s because Sunnyside Offroad has equipped the Boony stomper with a custom-fabricated long-travel independent trailing arm suspension. The trailer also has load-adjusting shocks.

In other words, the suspension has been purpose-built for rugged offroad driving. Yet, even on rough trails, this trailer pulls like a dream! That’s the value you get from a trailer that’s engineered specifically for off-road use and tested at high speeds in the wilds of Nevada, where Sunnyside Offroad is based.

Now for the best part…

Far too often, teardrop trailers are far too expensive. Not everyone has $40,000 to drop on a trailer they’ll use 10-12 times a year, if that.

But, the Boony Stomper changes all that. With a base price of $10,250, this trailer is accessible to a wide swath of the overlanding and off-roading market.

As described earlier, you get all the essentials for that price, too – a killer suspension, a comfortable cabin, a full-size bed, and much more. And with the ability to customize the trailer with available add-ons, you can create a truly bespoke off-road trailer for your needs and your budget.
