Let that sink in for a moment—that’s a lot of power! For an off-grid trailer, that amount of energy generation means you can essentially live indefinitely off solar, depending on your usage, of course. Whether you’re recharging batteries, running appliances, or even just keeping the lights on, 600 amp hours gives you peace of mind that you’ll have all the power you need–and then some!
When you combine this with a robust battery management system like the RedVision, you’re looking at a trailer that can handle the demands of extended off-grid trips without breaking a sweat. Additionally, the 36-gallon fresh water tank ensures you have enough water for cooking, cleaning, and drinking, even on longer adventures. I don’t want you to think that the Highland 60 is just a rough and rugged trailer. Sure, as we just discussed, it has the off-road capabilities you need to get deep into the wilderness. But, it’s also packed with features that make it a comfortable and functional base camp for your adventures.
It’s this blend of capability and comfort, functionality and form, that makes the Highland 60 such a fantastic option for your outdoor explorations. Inside and out, top to bottom, SasquatchXC has incorporated all sorts of elements that make this trailer the perfect balance between “let’s hit some serious trails” and “let’s get a good night’s sleep.”
Interior Comforts
Inside the trailer, the 6-foot, 8-inch bed space provides ample room even if you’re tall like me. The memory foam mattress ensures a comfortable night’s sleep, while the fully insulated walls, roof, and floor offer protection from the elements. If you enjoy a bit more open space, both access doors can be left wide open.
As discussed earlier, the interior is also equipped with an aluminum cabinet storage system, providing ample organization for personal items. Each side of the bed has its own 12-volt and USB ports, along with two ceiling lights and two reading lights to accommodate late-night reading or relaxing. For colder nights, the trailer is fitted with a Propex 6500 BTU heater with digital controls, and for warmer nights, the MaxxFan Deluxe roof vent keeps the air flowing, even during heavy rain.
Exterior Design and Features
The Highland 60’s exterior reveals a trailer filled with practical innovations. A prime example of this is the optional Squatch Box. This storage box is custom-designed to fit under the trailer’s roof rack. Inside, you’ll find space for dual solar panels to provide off-grid power. The Squatch Box also hides another goodie–a folding camp table to give you additional space for preparing meals.
On either side of the trailer, you’ll find two big side storage boxes. Not only do these boxes offer ample storage space, but you can find what you’re looking for at night given that each box has LED lighting (each box’s lighting is controlled independently, too). You can also add shelving for better organization, and each side box has weatherstripping and sealed compression latches to ensure the elements stay outside.
Along both sides, a custom rack system is at the ready for gear you need to access quickly on the trail, like recovery gear or jerry cans, which are critical for extended backcountry trips. At the rear, you’ll find a rack for the full-size spare tire with a 2-inch receiver hitch, which is perfect for attaching a bike rack or other accessories without needing to remove them to access the kitchen.
Smart Kitchen Setup
At the heart of the Highland 60’s utility is the kitchen, located at the back of the trailer. The kitchen design allows you to swing the spare tire rack out to access the kitchen. Behind the rack is a sealed door with double latches. This space-saving design–the door swings to the left and the rack to the right–includes handy shelf and 12-volt power for running a refrigerator.
Inside the kitchen, you’ll find a countertop (stainless steel, so it’s easy to clean) and a stainless steel sink. This isn’t just any sink, though–it has a glass lid that folds down to give you even more prep space. Next to the sink is a stove with three burners, which, along with the on-demand hot water system, is powered by two 11-pound propane tanks mounted to the sides of the trailer. With that much fuel, you can tackle outdoor adventures of all kinds without worry of running out of fuel.
The kitchen is organized with a three-bay cabinet system featuring two drawers with dividers and shelves to store food and other cooking items. A 36-gallon water tank is strategically mounted between the trailer’s body and frame, which means the trailer has a low center of gravity–just what you want for improved off-road handling. The kitchen also boasts a 120-volt outlet.
The kitchen area also offers 12-volt and USB ports and switches for the trailer’s lighting systems on the passenger’s side of the trailer. You can easily recharge your phone, tablet, or laptop, while providing the same service for your camping buddies. Power is provided by the 4-stage, 10-amp DC-DC battery charger, so you’re sure to have ample power for your trips.

Ultimately, what my SasquatchXC Highland 60 review reveals is that this trailer offers a level of versatility that you simply don’t find in all off-road-ready trailers. Think about it–you have a comfortable cabin for sleeping, a well-sized kitchen for cooking, industry-leading amounts of storage, and on-board water, electronics, and heat. That’s not too shabby!
Then, when you consider that all these features ride on a robust frame with a lifetime warranty and a suspension and chassis that offers superb off-road and on-road performance, it’s easy to see why this trailer is so impressive. Yet, as detailed as I’ve tried to be in my description of this trailer, and as many photos as I’ve included to illustrate what I’ve discussed, this review still doesn’t do this trailer justice. It is definitely a you-have-to-see-it-to-believe-it situation.
