which is the cheapest way to get a winch?

I currently do not have a winch on my vehicle as I do not really do any tough trails, the car wasn't made for them anyway. However, I would like having the added piece of mind of having a winch just in case it is ever needed. Does anyone have any cheap solutions for a winch that won't get used much?

The absolute cheapest way is by going for a hand winch. Something like a tirfor device should do the trick. Keep in mind that it involves manual Labour though and won't be as effective as a normal winch.

For the same price you can get the bottom end of electric winches but I am not sure if they are worth it from a reliability point of view
