And that is the only cooking source that you have? What is your secondary means of cooking that you are using that can be used during fire bans?

I got use to fire bans a long time ago. I normally use my Stansport stove but if it gets worse, out comes the Jet Boil and freeze dried food. If I can get away with it, I also use my Dutch oven and charcoal. I carry a thin steel plate, place it (hide it) in the fire pit and use the charcoal. Its kind of a grey area because its not a BBQ and its not a wood fire. I've had the Park Service show up in camp, at daybreak, trying to see if we snuck a ground fire. Forest service, I normally wont see before 9am or after 5pm. Either way, the charcoal in the fire pit doesn't attract attention because there's no BBQ.

Depending on the time of year and ban status, my fires go like this.
1. Normal wood ground fire
2. Wood fire in a Solo Stove
3. Propane pit
I love wood fires and my propane fire sort of works but I don't like cooking on it. I don't let fire bans discourage me from camping.
