What are you doing about roof top tent mattresses?

Now this has been a question that has been brewing for some time and now that I have my new iKamper on my rig, I'm reminded of how uncomfortable these rooftop tents are when it comes to sleep time. I'm wondering about putting a topper of some sort on the top of it, but wondering:

1. Can I keep it up there when closing?
2. Which is going to be the best and improve sleeping quality?

Any thoughts on those questions?

I ran a topper on mine and managed to close it with all the bedding. It was a soft shell though. Not sure how much room you have.
I eventually swapped the mattress for an....don't remember the name. Self inflating, insulated mattress and put the topper on that.
