Rusty rock chips on hood - best way to fix?

How are you all dealing with rock chips on your hood and front fenders? Let me get to the point, how can I fix and without having to lay a wrap over this, is there a way to prevent this from happening?

Thats what we had done when we picked up ours. Best investment, not sure how it comes off if it ever needed, but it does what it supposed to. First van we had we didn't do this and we had all sorts of rock chips on the hood. Not the current one. So, yeah it works.
