Refilling 1lb propane bottles yourself?

My grill and buddy heater both use 1lb propane bottles. At the propane refill stations, they won't fill anything under 5lb tanks. I've seen some kits you can purchase and refill from a 20lb tank. Have you tried this? I've watched some videos, but it still creeps me out a little messing with propane and tanks. Just looking for a little input. Would you, or have you filled your own tanks?

Hell no. I've heard people doing that, but you won't find me attempting.

Why is that dude even bothering with those 1lb tanks, that buddy heater and likely that grill has extensions that you can use with that 20lb tank he has.
