Overlanding in Mexico dangerous?

Have any of you overlanded in Mexico? Did you feel you had control over your safety? Or was it sketchy?

I wouldn't say so. Did some research on the places you go to just to be sure. Be informed on areas and places you should avoid

I've heard some dodgy things about Mexico but just like any place there are the good and the bad.

You should be fine, just avoid conflict

Thank you, so would you carry a firearm? The part I'm not sure on, is country police (corrupt) or trouble makers down there.

Honestly, I would rather head the other direction towards Alaska. Mexico... meh.
