OM617 300D swap in a TJ Wrangler?

I am a Land Rover fan myself but a friend of mine recently acquired a TJ Wrangler and we though it would be a good idea to put a Mercedes OM617 diesel in it that we have laying around. Has anyone done something similar?

I have't done it myself but I know many have. The OM617 is a great engine so I would say it would match the TJ nicely

They are very simple engines. You might need to do some fab to make it fit. But you wan't have issues making it work
