is it worth mounting one of those solar pads that stay on your hood?

Oh hell yeah, I have one from Cascadia4x4. The benefit is that it keeps a trickle charge on your rigs battery while you are under sun light. Plus if you are out and actually have a weak battery, After about 30 minutes of in sunlight, you should have enough battery juice to turn over the truck.
