Dealing with wasps and bees while cooking?

As we prep for the upcoming summer camping season, I'm reminded about a problem we have around here while cooking. That is bees and wasps. Sprays that work for other bugs don't seem to phase these buggers. How do you keep wasps and bees from dive bombing into your food?

My grandmother would use peppermint in a spray bottle and spray that around where you are eating. As I recall, they hate that smell.

Mix up Clove-Geranium and Lemongrass oil will do the trick as well
