I just saw this photo online and while I wouldn't go crawling under without stands in place, this looks like it could work?

The only part that I question is the "ram".
It looks like one of my hood prop rods from work. Look at the bottom black area and you see the release tab. If it is, not well designed and you would still need a means of lifting the vehicle. At that point, a locking jack would be stronger.

To give you an idea how strong these are, over time, the heavier hoods will distort the lock and the hood slides down. Figure a big hood weighs 50 pounds with a hinge on one end and this this has...1500 pounds on the support?
It takes me about a year or two, to wear one of these out
 
That is interesting. I like the idea, but how often would something like this even get used? Sure if you are an off road racer, this is something that will get used a lot and worth the cost. But the rest of us? This only races the back of the truck too right?
 
The only thing I can see is accidentally going backwards when it's not completely up and high centering your rig on that thing :ROFLMAO:
 
Anyone else remember cartoon 'Inspector Gadget' from when we were kids? Tell me this doesn't remind of you of that?!

Yes! They made a motion movie back in the 90's on this cartoon as well. But yes, completely looks like something that would come from that movie!
