Best engine for a 1998 Pajero?

I am in the market for a 1998 Pajero, should I go for a 2.5 diesel, 2,8 diesel or the 3.0 petrol?

the 2.8 diesel is the best one. The 2.5 is underpowered and in my opinion a Diesel engine is far better than a petrol one in a 4x4
