I would have a look at a Land Rover discovery, or maybe something like a 3rd gen 4 runner. Those aren't stupidly expensive yet!

Cheap? Not these days, but you can find mid 90's Jeeps and Toyotas rip for the picking.

Not many left mate. Maybe an XJ Cherokee or so but even those have gone up slightly
