Alabama Hills in California permitting overnight camping?

I seem to recall someone talking about how the park was getting run over with people abusing the land and that camping was closed down a few months back. Was this the entire park or are there spots where you can overnight camp?

It got ridicules. It had always been popular then the overland craze hit and it got crowded. People started leaving trash and tearing up the area. Then came the restrictions.

If I go out there for a few days of exploring, I now camp across the highway on BLM land.

There are plenty of other examples of this happening all over. Some people just don't get it and ruin it for the rest of us.
