Campervans have been a popular overlanding option for years all around the globe. But after the COVID-19 pandemic hit, it seems as though hitting the open road in a campervan became even more popular.
Today, there are campervan builds of all sorts – big, small, cheap, expensive, and everything in between. Of course, there are varying levels of capabilities, amenities, and quality among the many campervan build options, too.
Looking for a campervan these days is sort of like looking through your Netflix queue – it can be utterly overwhelming! But, just like not every Netflix show is worth your time, only some campervans are worth your time, too. So that got me thinking…what campervan have I seen lately that qualifies as the ultimate campervan build?
Well, that’s a simple question to answer: It’s the Boulder Campervans Mount Elbert. Why, you ask? Let’s find out!

This Campervan Build Has a Luxurious Interior
Let’s start with the interior of this campervan build…
From top to bottom, front to back, you’ll find luxurious touches that make your camping experience more like staying in a luxury hotel suite than roughing it in the backcountry. And it isn’t just a pretty face inside the Mount Elbert Campervan…
I mean, sure, there are beautiful finishes throughout, from the neutral-toned custom Swedish oak flooring to the bamboo lagun table to the bamboo cabinetry (including a floor-to-ceiling wardrobe) throughout the van. But those luxury finishes are backed up by a spate of features and amenities that enhance the comfort level of overlanding in this campervan.
For example, this van is equipped with a kitchen with all the amenities you need to cook on the road. There’s a sink, a microwave for quickly reheating meals, and a dual-burner induction cooktop for whipping up a fresh dinner. The Indel 130-liter refrigerator gives you space to keep your food and drinks cool, too.
The spacious Corian countertop (which features a pop-up 120-volt outlet) gives you all the room you need to prepare dinner. There is also ample storage space in the bamboo cabinets located throughout the van. And when you’re ready to sit down for a meal, there’s space for five around the bamboo lagun tabletop – just swivel the front driver’s and passenger’s seats around, and you have five comfortable chairs to sit and enjoy dinner.
Of course, you can do all this in a climate-controlled environment. This four-season-ready rig features double-stuff Havelock wool and Thinsulate insulations in the walls and ceiling. Not only that, but this insulation is also pulled through all the beams in the van (and the companion trailer that comes with it, for that matter) to ensure the interior is at a comfortable temperature no matter the season.
On top of that, this campervan build boasts a Rixens D5 heater and a Nomadic air conditioner so you can tailor the interior temperature to your liking. And if it isn’t too hot or cold outside, use the remote to turn on the Maxx Air Fan to bring in some fresh air.
Alternatively, just raise the Van Essentials window coverings and open the windows for a nice cross breeze. You won’t have to worry about bugs, though, thanks to the Van Essentials bug screens. There’s even a bug screen for the large passenger-side door!
With the addition of a pop-top roof, this van can comfortably sleep five people (plus another two people in the trailer). Your guests can enjoy their own reading lights for a little late-night reading session and utilize the included Dometic 2.6 cassette toilet when nature calls.
All of you will benefit from the van’s robust electrical system, which features four 200ah Victron lithium batteries, a 3000-watt Victron MultiPlus inverter and charger, and 600 watts of solar power from the Zamp Solar Obsidian Series panels on the roof of the van and the trailer.
With this electrical system, you can easily run the van’s lights, microwave, water pump, and other amenities (like the included Starlink, projector, and movie screen), even when not connected to shore power. Heck, this campervan build also has a retractable table that’s perfect for use as an office space while you’re on the road. Just have a seat, power up your laptop, and get your work done no matter where you’re at.
In other words, Boulder Campervans has spared no expense outfitting the interior of this van. It’s a beautifully designed and built space that’s also highly functional and comfortable. What’s not to like?!
You Can Go Virtually Anywhere in the Mount Elbert
Of course, having a beautifully designed interior doesn’t do you much good if your van can’t handle the rough stuff to get you to your favorite off-grid camping spot. There are no worries about doing so with this campervan build, though…
Boulder Campervans has outfitted this 2021 Mercedes Sprinter 2500 170 Extended van with all the goodies necessary for managing off-road travel. The van is already equipped with a 4×4 system, but with the addition of features like a snorkel kit, an Agile RipKit suspension upgrade, and a Warn Zeon 12 Platinum 12,000-pound winch, it’ll take a lot to keep this van from getting where you want it to go.
But that’s not all Boulder Campervans have done to the exterior of the Mount Elbert van. Get a load of these features:
- RoamBuilt nerf bars, surf poles, and surf cradles
- Backwoods front bumper with bull bar, 20-inch light bar, and spotlights
- Backwoods rear bumper with Pathfinder flood lights
- Agile Offroad 2500 big brake upgrade
- Black Rhino Arsenal wheels with BFGoodrich All-Terrain K02 tires
- LineX-lined hood, rocker panels, and flares
On top of the van is a Beartooth 170Ext roof rack for storing extra gear (which you can access via the Roambuilt side ladder, which is custom-made to fit around the camper’s A/C unit). On the side is a custom mount for an awning to get some shade on those particularly hot, sunny days. And in back is a B2B carrier, a tire carrier, and a ski box, along with space for two Rotopax.
Like I said, this van is loaded up for adventure – no matter where that adventure might take you!
This Campervan Build Comes With Its Own Trailer
The Mount Elbert campervan is quite the overlanding rig by itself. But what makes it all the better (and even more unique than it already is) is that it comes with its own trailer.
As noted earlier, the trailer has its own solar panels on the roof. Those panels feed energy to two 200ah Victron batteries and a Victron MultiPlus 3000-watt inverter and charger that is completely separate from the van. Speaking of which, the trailer is equipped with all sorts of its own features that make it a standalone camping and overlanding option…
The van has its own kitchen with a sink, a fridge, a dual-burner cooktop, bamboo cabinetry (including a floor-to-ceiling cabinet for extra storage), and a Corian countertop. The trailer also has its own bamboo lagun table and mount for extra dining space.
While we’re at it, the trailer comes with its own heater, air conditioner, and dry flush toilet. It does one better with an indoor Frigo stainless steel shower, too.
So, what you end up with is really a two-for-one situation – you get a self-contained van plus a self-contained trailer for your camping adventures. Take the van by itself, the van and trailer together, or tow the trailer with a separate vehicle for two separate camping setups!
