What Do You Get with the More Affordable Version of the All-New Frontier?

The Nissan Frontier was in desperate need of an update as its age was showing in pretty much every test and circumstance.

Thankfully, Nissan revealed the new one a few months ago and we can now have a better look at all the different trim levels available.

This article will be focusing on the more affordable Frontier with the SV trim level and premium package. Let’s see what this truck has to offer.

New Nissan Frontier Engine Specs

Engine specs are simple in the new Frontier…

There is just one engine option available and that is the 3.8L V6 with 310HP and 281 LB-FT of torque. The new engine is paired to a 9-speed automatic.

Wheels and Tires

Alloy wheels wrapped in some Michelin Primacy tires are what you get on this trim level; therefore, if you are planning on going off-road you will want to swap the tires for something more robust and aggressive.

Payload of the New Nissan Frontier

This spec of the new Frontier offers a payload rating of 1110 pounds which isn’t great, but it is a crew cab 4×4; therefore, we wouldn’t expect great payload numbers.

Keep in mind that if you buy a base model, payload capacity will be increased due to it missing many luxuries that would otherwise add weight.

Off-Road Features

This model of the new Nissan Frontier does not come with a rear locker; therefore, as far as off-road abilities go you will have to rely on just low range and hill descent control.

Interior Amenities of the New Nissan Frontier

The SV premium offers leather seats and steering wheel, heated seats and steering wheel, a sunroof, an upgraded sound system, a smaller 7-inch screen, cargo lamp, driver assistance technology, and a 400w inverter. Wireless charging is also available as an option.

As far as cameras go, this trim level only offers the required backup camera.

The passenger seat is manual with no lumbar support, but the driver’s seat is electric with manual lumbar support.

Pricing for the New Nissan Frontier

The SV crew cab 4WD starts at around $35,000 and the base truck at $27,850; so, pricing is competitive when compared to the rest of the mid-sized trucks on the market.

Are the Cheaper Models Suitable for Off-Road Use?

Nissan Frontier

I would say that the more affordable models may be more appealing for off-road use.

First of all, they are cheaper; therefore, you won’t feel bad about every single scratch and dent you put into them. You should also keep in mind that accessory manufacturers will come up with aftermarket parts such as suspension, lockers, and protection; so, you can upgrade along the way. There is no need to buy the fully loaded off-road model from the get-go.

Modifying it as you go may even be a better option as you will put the accessories you really need, whereas the factory will put the accessories it believes you need.

I think the new Frontier is an appealing truck and if I was in the market for a vehicle to head out on adventures, it would definitely make the list of possible candidates.
