The original Wagoneer could get you across America in Luxury and style while also being very capable off-road. It was an appealing truck, and people nowadays love them! You can tell by the insane prices these classic machines sell for.
In case you’ve been living under a rock or been overlanding a bit too much, you would have heard that Jeep was planning on reviving the Wagoneer. Well, the wait is over, and I have a strange feeling that the New Jeep Wagoneer might make a luxurious and comfortable touring rig.
Jeep Wagoneer Engine
The all-new platform gets a 5.7L Hemi V8 with eTorgue. Power numbers are at just under 400HP and 400-pound feet of torque.
Independent Air Suspension
As expected, the new Jeep Wagoneer has independent air suspension that can be found in all four corners which will provide the vehicle with great ride quality. Payload will also be good because the car can compensate for suspension sag by inflating the airbags.
Wagoneer Exterior
The sharp edges along with the classic seven-slotted grill give the Wagoneer a retro yet modern look. Some Jeep touches include two recovery hooks in the front bumper which aren’t painted red – strangely.
New Jeep Wagoneer Interior
Let’s start with the coolest part – a safe box underneath the armrest. Yep, you’ve read that right. Have a couple million you need to keep safe while popping in for a quick coffee? The Wagoneer has you covered.
For me, that wouldn’t be too useful though – I mean the only thing I can put in there is my empty wallet – sob.
Let’s ignore my poor money managing skills though and head a bit further front where Jeep’s version of the terrain response system is located. Just like many 4WDs these days, there is a selection between mud/sand, rocks, snow, auto, and sport.
In the rear of the new Jeep Wagoneer, you will find captain chairs and climate control. I suspect that whoever is seated back there will be more than comfortable.
The third-row seats are exceptionally well designed, and that’s because a grown-up man can comfortably seat back there. USB ports will also keep your collection of entertainment devices charged on those long trips.
With the 3rd row seats up, there is still a decent amount of storage space in the trunk. When you do fold them down, which is done from a very luxurious switch, the space is endless. If you need more real estate than that, you’d probably be better off with a bus.

Is heavy towing a top priority but you don’t like full-sized trucks? Then here is your opportunity – the Wagoneer can tow 10,000 pounds. The new one might not have wood on the doors but I am pretty sure it hauls better than the old one. Cars have really come a long way.
Overlanding
Now, I do not expect to see any overland builds out of the new Jeep Wagonner anytime soon. Just like most modern SUVs, it will be bought to cruise on the motorway and take the kids to school.
But as lovers of cars and adventure, we like to dream, and that is what I am going to do for a minute here.
This might be a luxury SUV but it does have some things going for it when it comes to overlanding abilities.
Its body-on-frame design, proper transfer case, towing capacity, and air suspension will make it a very capable tourer.
Of course, I am not saying you will head out on the Rubicon trail with one of these.
However, imagine undertaking a long cross-country trip through some beautiful mountain trails with a luxurious camper trailer in tow. It will haul you and your family in utter comfort and style.
Granted, there are some limitations like those huge wheels – but nothing a few mods cannot fix.
Conclusions
I like the new Jeep Wagoneer; it will make the perfect daily driver and family tourer. Comfort might be the only way the wife and the kids will come along on adventures. Not everyone likes getting bashed around in a 20-year-old solid axle truck for a whole day only to find out they will be freezing to death in a tent for the night.
We will have to wait for full reviews to come out; however, the first impressions of the new Wagoneer seem positive. What do you think?
