Technically, I had the Sonmez Outdoors LONDON 360 DISCOVER before upgrading to the MAXIA 480, and I’ve logged a lot more time in this beauty. As I discuss in my Sonmez Outdoors LONDON 360 Discover review, I’ve really enjoyed using this tent in the mountains during winter, including a magical experience with the first snowfall last year in Big Bear (which, as you’ll see, is one of my favorite camping spots).
During the colder months, I often head up to Big Bear on weekdays for a quick rendezvous with nature, setting up an office away from the office. I’ll have my medium-sized RBM Outdoors wood stove going, which heats the tent so well that if you get a little too excited with how much wood you’re stuffing in, you’ll turn it into a sauna!
With Starlink providing fast internet, I’ve been able to run my business from the tent—something most can’t do unless they have the same setup. Like the MAXIA 480, the 360 DISCOVER has massive clear windows and sunroofs with Velcro covers, so you can either close them up or leave them open to admire the surrounding beauty. It’s still a bit of a workout, but nothing I can’t handle on my own, and it’s far easier to move around.
I’ve taken this tent all over California, but I have to say, setting it up on the coast has been pure magic. There’s something about the sound of the ocean paired with the comfort of this inflatable camp tent that creates a dreamlike camping experience.

In the words of an old drill instructor from my early military days, “Small Axes Chop Big Trees.” That quote still sticks with me 33 years later, and it perfectly describes things that pack a punch far beyond their size.
This Medium Panda tent from RBM Outdoors is a gem. Coming in at just under $1,000, it’s perfect for quick weekend getaways where you want to escape with a minimal footprint. You can even pack it in your car, making it ideal for spontaneous trips.
At 77 lbs, this is much lighter than the other tents I’ve reviewed on this list, which makes it far easier to transport and set up. While RBM tents are more budget-friendly compared to the Sonmez tents, don’t underestimate their quality. They might not be as heavy-duty, but they are still very well-built and perform great in various conditions.
This tent is officially rated to sleep up to four people, but I’ll tell you from personal experience—if you’re camping with one other person, the space feels incredibly comfortable. My son and I usually use our Disc-o-Bed bunk beds in this tent to maximize space, and this setup works beautifully. The 71 sq ft of usable space may not sound like much, but with our bunks, we still have room to move around comfortably.

The interior of the Panda Air Large is incredibly spacious. With 129 sq ft of usable area, you can comfortably fit four people using air mattresses or squeeze in six people with sleeping bags. The nearly 7-foot ceiling height is a luxury in itself, allowing you to stand up and move around without feeling cramped. I often use this tent with my son, and even with our gear, it feels roomy enough to enjoy with plenty of space to spare.
And if you’re like me and you’re on the tall side, having a tent that you can actually stand up straight in is so nice. As I get older and my back hurts more and more, being able to walk around and stretch inside the tent helps keep me feeling good for the day’s adventures. And when those adventures are over, I have more than enough space to lounge around and relax inside this tent.
However, there’s one aspect I’d change—the doors don’t seal as tightly as I’d like. In really heavy winds, cold or hot air can sneak in, but this hasn’t been a dealbreaker for me. It’s something to keep in mind if you’re camping in particularly extreme weather.
All in all, the RBM Outdoors Panda Air Large is a rock star when it comes to durability, space, and versatility.
