Inergy FLEX 1500 Power Station Review: Basic Specs

The Inergy FLEX 1500 Power Station is a compact, easy-to-handle unit that weighs 29 pounds and measures just 14″ x 8″ x 8.9″. There’s a large handle on top to assist in moving the power station from one place to the other.

Don’t let the small form factor fool you, though – the FLEX 1500 is a powerhouse with a 1,500-watt pure sine wave inverter capable of 3,000 watts of surge power. That’s more than enough power for my little camping setup!

The unit has a console LCD display that gives you a quick look at the system’s vital signs. You’ll find separate power buttons for AC and DC power, plus tons of cooling vents that prevent overheating.

The FLEX 1500 power station also comes with a 1,000-watt lithium-ion FLEX battery. The battery has its own LCD display, so you can quickly check its current levels. Additionally, it’s a plug-and-play system, so you just align the connectors on the bottom of the FLEX 1500 Power Station with the connectors on top of the battery, lock it into place, and you’re ready to rumble!

Obviously, the system also offers fume-free performance since no internal combustion engine is involved. It’s also almost completely silent – just what you want on those relaxing camping trips under the stars!

Inergy FLEX 1500 Power Station Review: Features

inergy power station graph

Let’s take a deeper look at some of the basic specs discussed above…

One of the best features of the Inergy FLEX 1500 Power Station is that you can charge its battery with multiple sources – shore power, solar power, your car, or the MPPT charge controller. You can use all of these sources at the same time, too; that way, you can charge the FLEX battery more quickly.

On top of that, the MPPT charge controller works with parallel or series wiring configurations to give you even more flexibility. It also allows for up to 90V of solar input, which, in ideal conditions, will charge a FLEX battery in about 3.5 hours. The MPPT charge controller charges each battery in the stack simultaneously, too (though the more batteries in the stack, the longer it takes to charge them). Add an optional FLEX MPPT Supercharger, and you can cut charging time for one battery to about 1.5 hours.

Now, the FLEX battery is worth a separate discussion. This system is designed for expansion, so you can add additional batteries in the future should you need the extra power. The base unit comes with one FLEX battery, and I have two additional batteries, so I actually have 3,000 watts of power available.

You can stack up to five batteries together, so I can add two more if I need. But it gets even better than that – you can add up to 96 batteries to the mix in stacks of five and connected by a battery adapter plate.

Now, I have a pretty lightweight overlanding setup from an electrical standpoint, so I won’t ever need that much power. But hey, it’s nice to know that it’s a possibility!

Inergy FLEX 1500 Power Station Review: Accessories

As I mentioned earlier, the Inergy FLEX 1500 Power Station comes with a 1,000-watt FLEX battery. But I’ve added two additional FLEX batteries to my setup for greater flexibility for power storage and powering larger devices. These batteries have automatic balancing, so regardless of what Inergy accessory you’re using with it, you’ll get safe and effective operation.

inergy ascent solar panels

I also have four 100-watt Ascent solar panels that generate 400 watts of total power. These panels have built-in aluminum legs that act as a kickstand, which makes for a super easy setup.

Speaking of easy, these panels are 25.59″ x 19.88″ x 2.36″ when folded up and weigh just 22 pounds, so they’re extremely portable. They come with a case, too, which makes portability even better.

Inergy offers many other interesting accessories, including the aforementioned FLEX MPPT Supercharger, a FLEX UPS Rapid Charger, and various EMP Shield Power Protection Modules. You can add an Inergy FLEX DC Power Station to the mix if you like, too!

Inergy FLEX 1500 Power Station Review: Performance

I’m closing in on two months of having the Inergy FLEX 1500 Power Station, and I’ve had the chance to put it through its paces in many different environments charging many different devices. So far, it has been a complete rockstar!

If you know me, you know that I love my morning coffee, so I often use the FLEX 1500 to run my coffee pot in the morning. It’s a creature comfort I just can’t live without – trust me; you don’t want to try to have a conversation with me in the morning before I’d had a cup or two!

Another primary use for the FLEX 1500 Power Station is running my Starlink internet. Running multiple online companies requires that I can connect to the internet and make calls to colleagues and clients, and with this setup, I can do just that.

inergy flex 1500 power station with zerobreeze

I also have a ZeroBreeze Mark II portable air conditioner that I run off the FLEX 1500 Power Station. Like most people, I tend to camp more in the summer than any other time of year, and being in Southern California, where it can get really hot, having a portable air conditioner is a game-changer. Thanks to the Inergy FLEX 1500, I can run the ZeroBreeze to cool down the tent before heading to bed and keep the tent cool throughout the night.

Of course, I also use the FLEX 1500 system to charge up my many devices – my phone, tablet, laptop, GoPros, camera batteries, and so forth. Again, having a clean, reliable power source for all of these gadgets is a major bonus for someone like me that frequently goes camping but needs to stay connected.

I have used the FLEX 1500 Power Station in the mountains and deserts, at high elevations and sea level, in the wind and rain, and in many other situations. I’ve been thoroughly impressed in each instance with the quiet efficiency of this system. And as someone that has used gas, diesel, or propane generators for years, having a power system that’s quiet and odor-free is a nice change of pace!
