When I bought my 2020 Jeep Gladiator, I had 35-inch Nitto Trail Grapplers put on it. Those tires served me well, but when it was time to get new rubber, I went with a different tire – the Milestar Patagonia MT.
So, why the switch if the Nittos were so good?
Honestly, I wanted to see if there was something even better for my needs.
I do a lot of off-road driving, but I also live in the Los Angeles area, so I do a lot of driving on pavement, too. The Nittos were rough and ready on pavement, so after hearing good things about the Milestars, I decided to give them a try.
In this Milestar Patagonia MT review, I’ll give you insights into the specs, features, and performance of these tires. Let’s get to it!

Milestar Patagonia MT Specs
The Milestar Patagonia MT is available in a wide range of sizes – 32, in fact! You can outfit your rig whether you need 31-inch tires for your 15-inch wheels, 42-inch tires for your 22-inch wheels, or something in between.
Most Patagonias have a 19/32 tread depth, though select sizes are 18/32. The tires also accommodate various rim widths, from seven up to 14 inches, depending on the tire size.
One of the specifications that drew me to the Milestar Patagonia MT tires is the three-ply sidewall construction. Milestar calls this MILETECH, which offers superb flexibility and pliability while also being extremely durable and rigid – just what you want in a tire that’ll get some abuse on off-road outings.
Likewise, the flexibility and pliability of these tires make them excellent candidates for running while aired down. Again, this is an important feature if you plan to do any off-roading, especially in the desert.
But where the Milestar Patagonia MT tires really shine is in the special features they have for improving on-road and off-road performance…
Milestar Patagonia MT Features
When you look at these tires, you can see some interesting features that enhance their performance.
For example, the cross-directional siping gives the Milestar Patagonia MT tires superb tread block strength. This enhances the tire’s resilience and gives your truck added stability, particularly when you’re driving through mud, snow, or in the rain.
Another feature that caught my eye when I was tire shopping is the aggressive tread design of these tires. The Milestar Patagonia MTs have absolutely enormous voids between the treads, which enhances the tire’s ability to get rid of mud and debris. The integrated stone rejectors help prevent rocks from getting stuck in the treads, too (and from drilling into the tire, for that matter).
When you’re shopping for a tire that you’ll use off-road, you also want something that improves traction. The Milestar Patagonia MTs have angled biting edges that do just that. Whether I’m driving down the 405 or off-roading in the Sierras, these edges help give my Jeep all the traction it needs to go where I need it to go.
What’s more, these tires have a silica-based compound on the treads that improves their resistance to cuts and chips. That durability is a life-saver! The silica compound also increases the tread life of these tires, so you can get more mileage out of them before you need to invest in a new set.
The Milestar Patagonia MTs also have a center rib design that gives them a much more comfortable ride than many other mud-terrain tires on the market.
As I noted in the introduction, my Nitto Trail Grapplers were fantastic tires, but they didn’t provide a very comfortable ride on paved roads. The Milestar Patagonia MTs absolutely crush it on pavement, though. The ride is so much smoother and comfortable, and these tires produce much less road noise as well. Nice!
Milestar Patagonia MT Review: How Do the MT-02 Tires Compare to the Original?
As I discuss in the video above, I have the new-and-improved Milestar Patagonia MT-02 tires on my Jeep. So how do these tires differ from their predecessors?
For starters, the three-ply sidewall I described earlier is a new feature on the second-generation tires, as is the silica-based tread compound I explained previously.
The cross-directional siping I discussed above is also a new feature on the MT-02 tires, which adds to the superb on-road and off-road performance.
Speaking of performance…I did a quick road test to see how much quieter the Milestar tires are compared to my old Nitto Trail Grapplers. Check it out in the video above to see what a difference these new tires make.
Final Thoughts
Outfitting your vehicle with tires can be an expensive undertaking, so it’s important to do your due diligence and invest in a tire that gives you the most bang for your buck.
After running Nittos for a long time, I decided that the Milestar Patagonia MTs were a better choice – and I think I made the right decision.
From a features standpoint, these tires have the durability, functionality, and performance I need for driving on asphalt, sand, and everything in between. And from a price standpoint, they are far less expensive than comparably-sized Nittos. In my book, that’s what we call a win-win!
If you need to upgrade the tires on your adventure mobile, I can’t recommend the Milestar Patagonia MT enough. These tires have proven to be a solid investment for me, and they will be for you, too!
