One of the best ways to adapt to the overland lifestyle full-time or to enjoy long periods of traveling and adventuring is by setting up a remote business. You can work from wherever you are, whenever you want – a freedom not many people have.
However, how can you stay productive and ensure you face no hurdles when doing your work on the road? A few years ago, this would have been a tough question. But the recent introduction of new products enables us to stay connected regardless of where we happen to be.
In this article, we’ll discuss a few products you need to set up an immensely productive remote work office space.

Remote Work Office Space – Off-Grid Power
First and foremost, you will need a way to keep all your devices charged. The current market is full of ways one can do that, but one of our favorites is the ALP 1000-watt propane generator.
The ALP 1000-watt propane generator offers up to a 60hr run time on a 20lb tank and a 3hr run time on a 1 lb tank (numbers can change depending on load). It can power your small items like your phone, laptop, and printer, and even larger items like a residential-size refrigerator.
The generator offers pure sine-wave technology and multiple charging ports, and can produce double the power when combined to a second ALP 1000-watt unit. In addition, it is EPA and CARB approved and offers a 1-year limited warranty.
One of the biggest issues with generators is noise. However, this one is one of the quietest ones you can get. With a rating less than 52 dBA, it’s quieter than the competition and allows you to concentrate on your remote work without the overwhelming sound of machinery in the background.
If you want to combine these features with excellent portability, reliability, and durability, the ALP 1000-watt generator is a great option. And with an affordable price, you can power your remote work office space without breaking the bank.
Perhaps best of all, this generator’s rugged build means you can work in beautiful, remote, off-grid places without worry if your generator is up to the task!
Remote Work Office Space – Set Up a Work Area
There are many options when it comes to choosing where you will sit down and do your work. You can choose between a short or tall table or even work from inside your car, rooftop tent, or trailer.
For us, a good choice is this Tailgater Tire Table because it offers a level, stable work surface regardless of the terrain. This is a huge advantage when you’re camping off-grid because you can’t always find level ground to set up a workspace. Since the Tire Table doesn’t actually touch the ground, it negates this problem.
The table can hold up to 50lbs, so you can load it up with a lot of work. Yet, it’s made from powder-coated aluminum, so it’s lightweight and easily maneuverable. It’s easy and quick to set up, too.
Granted, since it is a tire-mounted table it will be low to the ground, but that may suit your preferences. Besides, it’s hard to complain when you get a table that’s so rugged, easy to set up, and convenient!
Camping and car traveling often mean packing a ton of stuff inside your vehicle. Without the correct organization gear, you will spend ages trying to pack, organize, and find stuff. This is where an Aiden James Custom Gear Plate comes in handy.
The specific product we have in mind is the sliding cargo tray. It offers a mounting spot for Dometic fridge slides and Pro Eagle jacks, while also giving you the ability to securely mount drawers, kitchens, or gear tie-down points.
Installation of the gear plate does not require extensive disassembly of your vehicle’s truck, and does not require drilling holes or removing sound deadening. And, once mounted, there are no squeaks or dust leaks.
The material used for its construction is Baltic Birch which is coated with a 3mm thick LineX coating for superior durability. This is a product that will withstand the punishment of off-roading while also keeping all your work and camping gear organized.
Remote Work Office Space – Stay Connected
Of course, all of the above would be useless without an internet connection…
Up until recently, you could stay connected via a phone hotspot, but you needed to be somewhere with a phone signal. However, this is no longer the case thanks to Starlink, which I discuss in the video above.
With Starlink, you can engage in activities that have not been possible through satellite internet. The high-speed, low-latency service is made possible via the world’s largest constellation of highly advanced satellites operating in low orbit around the earth.
The device is easy to set up and transforms the way you can work. You can be in the middle of nowhere and still have a high-speed connection. This isn’t just beneficial from a working on the road point of view, but also from a safety standpoint. Should you need help, Starlink can be your connection to civilization.
You might expect this to be immensely expensive. However, that is not the case. You will pay a one-time hardware cost of $599, and then $135 per month for portable service (at the time of this writing). Based on what’s offered, that’s a really good price if you ask me!

Working remotely opens up a huge number of possibilities when it comes to how free one can live. However, it also has some dangers. You need to make sure that you stick to normal business hours to avoid burnout. The urge to squeeze a project in late at night or over the weekend is always there, but it’s important to take a step back and relax.
Similarly, make space for a real vacation. Working on the road can trick us into thinking that we are on a vacation already, but that isn’t the case. Every once in a while, you need to assign a few days when you can stay offline to completely relax and recharge. This is one of the most important things one can do to ensure longevity in their work sector.
What do you think? Are there any other gadgets that make life on the road easier? If you have any suggestions or any other off-road or overland-related questions, you can post them in the forum section of our page.
