I’ve been camping and overlanding for many, many years, and in that time, I’ve come across all sorts of overlanding accessories. By and large, I’ve had good luck with the gear I’ve acquired – it’s done its job and done it well. Occasionally, though, I’ll add something to my kit that really blows me away. The Tailgater Tire Table is one such item.
In short, this table has proven to be worth its weight in gold. As I’ll discuss in more detail below, this table is durable, easy to set up, and endlessly versatile. When you have very little room to haul all your camping gear, having something that’s multifunctional and well-made is an absolute must, and the Tire Table fits the bill nicely.
So, without further ado, let’s get into the reasons why this table has cemented itself as one of the best overlanding accessories in my kit.

The Tailgater Tire Table is Durable
First and foremost, as I noted earlier, when buying overlanding accessories, you want items that can stand up to the rigors of outdoor use. And since the Tire Table is made from aluminum or steel (depending on which version of the table you buy), you get the durability you demand.
That durability isn’t just for standing up to rain, snow, dirt, dust, and so forth – it also extends to tasks like cooking. Unlike a plastic folding table that I see so many folks using at camp, the Tailgater Tire Table can withstand the extremely high temperatures of hot pots and pans coming off your camp stove or the campfire.
Having a heat-proof surface to quickly put my pot or pan down allows me to be more efficient when making meals for myself and my camping buddies. What’s more, it means I can leave those hot pots and pans on the Tire Table while everyone dishes up their food.
About the only thing the Tire Table can’t endure is using it as a seat or a step. The regular-sized Tire Table can hold up to 50 pounds, though, and the large version holds up to 75 pounds, so it’s not like this table is a slouch when it comes to accommodating a significant amount of gear!

This Table is Easy to Set Up and Take Down
I used to have a plastic folding table I liked to use in camp as a staging area for gear. It was the perfect height, width, and length for that purpose. The problem is that the set up and take down processes were painful. That’s not what you want when buying overlanding accessories!
To set it up, you had to flip the table on its top and deploy the legs on either end. Then, you had to extend the legs on each side by pressing two metal tabs on each leg. The problem is that those metal tabs would then catch the next set of extension holes, so you had to press the tabs in again, and again, and again…you get the point.
But as you can see in my video above, the Tailgater Tire Table is incredibly easy to set up. In fact, it takes just a few moments to unpack the table, hook it onto the tire of your choice, and deploy the leg (if you even need the leg, that is…).
I don’t know about you, but things that take less time while also making my life easier are a definite bonus, and the Tire Table is a great example of that. And don’t worry if you have some big ol’ tires on your vehicle – the large Tire Table can accommodate up to 50-inch tires!
The Tailgater Tire Table is Sturdy on Any Surface
An issue you’ve probably encountered using a traditional camp table is that it takes some effort to find a level spot for it. Sure, established campgrounds often have level pads where you can park and set up your table and chairs, but they also often have picnic tables that negates the need to set up a table of your own.
But when you’re off-grid, finding that perfectly level spot for overlanding accessories like a four-legged table can be downright impossible. That’s where the Tire Table shines!
Since the table hooks over the top of your tire, you get a rock-solid surface, even if the ground is unlevel. As noted earlier, simply deploy the leg for added stability, and you’ll have a sturdy, level surface to do what you need to do at camp.
This Table Has All Kinds of Uses
As I mentioned earlier, the Tailgater Tire Table is a rock star for your camp kitchen needs. Use it to prepare food, to set hot pots and pans down, and to serve food to your camping buddies, too.
But this isn’t just a kitchen tool…
I often use the Tire Table for my mobile office. The large version, which is 33.5″D x 28″W x 1.5″H, is the ideal size for my laptop so I can get some work done while I’m out camping. In fact, the Tire Table offers enough room that I typically put my power station and Starlink router and power pack on top of the table, too. Like I said, this is among the most versatile overlanding accessories I have!
The versatility doesn’t stop there, though. My son usually comes with me on my outdoor adventures, and he uses the Tire Table for all sorts of purposes as well. It’s our spot to eat meals, of course, but he also uses the table to have snacks throughout the day, watch his favorite shows on his iPad, and occasionally, get homework done.
I’ve also used this table as a staging area for tools on more than one occasion. It’s the perfect height for grabbing what I need for whatever I’m working on. And since it’s so easy to set up and take down, I can move it from one tire to another quickly and easily to be closer to where I need my tools.
Like I said in the introduction, most of the gear I’ve used over the years has been perfectly fine. But not every item I’ve ever had in my kit reaches the overlanding accessories hall of fame. The Tire Table is certainly one of the items on my short list of all-time greats.
With a range of benefits and amenities that make it so easy to use and durable, it’s hard not to love this thing. If you want to level up your campsite functionality, consider investing in one of the best overlanding accessories on the market today – the Tailgater Tire Table.
